There's No Recipe for Success

There's no formula for becoming a success.

There are countless sources claiming to have the secret recipe.

But the truth is:

Not everyone has the same path to success.

The journey to become a successful creative professional is even more vague.

Some artists and creators take off from the beginning.

These savants rocket from obscurity to stardom in what seems to be a straight line.

“They did it, I’ll just replicate their success and do the same thing for myself.”

We’ve all thought this.

But even if we are able to mix all the same ingredients and pull the same levers as them success is not guaranteed.

Our situation is different. We have a journey of our own to make.

“It is better to follow your own path, however imperfectly,

than to follow someone else’s perfectly.”

- The Bhagavad Gita

While we can never guarantee success in our creative endeavors-

There is one critical thing we can do to overcome doubts:

Trust the Process

It’s natural for us to want to set and achieve marked goals.

But, when we stay focused on the final outcome we take our eyes off of what truly matters when shipping creative work.

A runner in a race can be headed to the finish line, but they have to put one foot in front of the other to get there.

In the same way, we have to trust in our creative process without letting outside doubts drag us down.

You can be inspired by other creative professionals around you (and those who came before you)-

But in the end, your path and your creative process will be unique to you.

By trusting your creative process and refining it as you learn with experience you will free yourself from the doubts that would limit your creative potential.
