Rome Wasn't Built In a Day
Planting Seeds for Tomorrow
In ancient Egypt it took decades to build a pyramid.
Thousands of years later, a cathedral took over 100 years to be completed once it was started.
The people who planned their construction and laid the first stones would often be dead by the time they were completed.
The founders of great cities and empires were long in their graves before their dreams came to fruition.
And they knew this going into it.
“The one who plants trees, knowing that he will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.”
An interesting concept to think about:
You are not the same person you were ten years ago,
Or five years ago,
Or last year,
Or yesterday.
That version of you is dead and gone and the person you are now has risen from their ashes.
And the person you are now will only be a memory to you five years down the road.
Far too often we plan goals in life for what would best suit us now.
What you need to remember is that your are constantly evolving and dealing with the consequences of yesterday’s actions (or inaction).
Start planting the seeds that will grow into tomorrow’s successes today.
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
Lay the first bricks of the monument that yourself (ten years from now) will thank you for.
Learn to gracefully let go of each iteration of yourself as you grow and evolve.
And let yourself be reborn into the person you were meant to be.
Memento mori. Memento vivere.
Remember you will die. Remember to live.
