The Hardest Part is Getting Started
A First Newsletter
Have you ever tried to open a jar that had a lid stuck in it?
It sucks.
Or turn a bolt that's rusted in place?
Also sucks.
It can be a bitch to open a jar of jam that's glued shut or turn an old bolt.
But after that first turn it's easy.
This is the case whenever you start something new-
It's called attrition.
Attrition is the action or process of gradually reducing the strength or effectiveness of someone or something through sustained attack or pressure.
When you turn the lid on the old jar of jam at the back of your mother's refrigerator-
you apply pressure until it turns and you get that sweet, sweet strawberry jam.
(But you know that it's only that first turn of the lid that's going to be a bitch)
Once you get that unstuck-
It isn't so hard to turn the last few spins until the thing is off.
Getting started at anything is like that.
I've been dragging my feet to start a newsletter
(I had a vague idea of what I wanted to do, but I couldn't bring myself to make that first turn of the lid).
I've decided to change that.
Welcome to the first edition of my newsletter:
It's short,
rough,
and covered in strawberry jam.
But the lid's open now.
Stay tuned for more to come.
Thanks,
Brent
